Couples Therapy
Go deeper than communication and start changing the pattern.
Couples therapy is not just about learning how to “communicate better.” It is about understanding what is really happening beneath the arguments, distance, resentment, shutdown, or repeated conflict.
In our work together, we will look at the relationship itself, while also uncovering the underlying unhealed individual issues that may be playing out in the marriage.
How We’ll Begin
After initial intake and goal sessions, we will establish the best way to serve you as a couple. This may include weekly sessions individually, as a couple, or a combination of both.
Typically, couples begin with a commitment of three months initially. After the fundamental issues of the couple have been addressed, we can schedule refresher or follow-up sessions as needed.
What We’ll Work On
We will utilize the work of John Gottman, Terry Real, and other couples and individual therapy strategies to support deeper healing and practical change.
Together, we may work on:
New communication skills
Forgiveness and repair
Compassion and intimacy
Conflict patterns
Trust and emotional safety
Underlying individual issues affecting the relationship
Healthier ways to advocate for yourself and each other
There will be homework between sessions for both the couple and each individual. This work is meant to support real change, not just insight.
Couples sessions are 90 minutes.
Couples Intensives
Couples Intensives weekends are also available. These require an assessment, as well as pre- and post-intensive couples sessions.
Intensives are designed for couples who are ready for deeper focused work around specific patterns, wounds, or relationship challenges.
